Konfucije je rekao: "Obrazovanje počinje poezijom, razvija se negovanjem svog ponašanja i usavršava se muzikom."

The Universal Traveler by Don Koberg, Jim Bagnall
How to Read a Book by Mortimer J. Adler, Charles Van Doren

"When the next salmonella or avian flu outbreak hits, the internet will have the news first.
A new website, HealthMap, addresses that challenge by siphoning up text from Google News, the World Health Organization and online discussion groups, then filtering it and boiling it down into mapped data that researchers -- and the public -- can use to track new disease outbreaks, region by region."

"The Encyclopedia of Life is an ecosystem of websites that makes all key information about all life on Earth accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world."
"This is the very beginning of our exciting journey to document all species of life on Earth."

Pokretač ovog projekta je Edward O. Wilson, biolog, profesor na Harvardu. Ovde je odličan članak o njegovom pogledu na život.
"Many evolutionary biologists have been persuaded, by works like “The Selfish Gene” by Richard Dawkins, that the gene is the only level at which natural selection acts. Dr. Wilson, changing his mind because of new data about the genetics of ant colonies, now believes that natural selection operates at many levels, including at the level of a social group."
"Proposing an idea heretical to many evolutionary biologists is one of the smaller skirmishes Dr. Wilson has set off. In his 1998 book “Consilience,” he proposed that many human activities, from economics to morality, needed to be temporarily removed from the hands of the reigning specialists and given to biologists to work out a proper evolutionary foundation."

"Edupunk is an approach to teaching and learning practices that result from a do it yourself (DIY) attitude. Many instructional applications can be described as DIY education or Edupunk. It describes inventive teaching and inventive learning.
Edupunk has risen from an objection to the efforts of government and corporate interests in reframing and bundling emerging technologies into cookie-cutter products with pre-defined application — somewhat similar to traditional punk ideologies."

Mi smo ne samo ono ŠTA čitamo već i KAKO čitamo!
"It is clear that users are not reading online in the traditional sense; indeed there are signs that new forms of “reading” are emerging as users “power browse” horizontally through titles, contents pages and abstracts going for quick wins. It almost seems that they go online to avoid reading in the traditional sense."

"Where do winning ideas come from? For most companies, the answer is from a select group of people in Research and Development, new product development (NPD), or marketing.
The new model that is emerging is a more customer-centric model, or a variation thereof, and relies on the wisdom of crowds, rather than a handful of experts. This is a major shift in that companies are not just asking end-customers to identify their unmet needs, but they are also engaging them in helping invent new solutions to meet those needs; in essence, to be the outsourced R&D team."
